travels with the Aussies!!

I flew from Chiang Mai to Kuala Lumpar- there weren't that many ppl on the plane so I could stretch out and lie down- a nice change!
Once I got to my hostel in KL I met 4 aussie guys and they invited me out with them- we had 100 satays between us (a challenge I helped them complete!) - for those of you who don't know satays are bits of meat on a stick that you dip into peanut sauce- actually quite tasty! I only managed 14 (still quite impressive tho for sum1 who doesn't eat meat that often!) and Roy ate the rest of mine- no idea where all that food went as he wasn't the largest of guys... we then went back to the hostel and played drinking games with cards (should potentially learn not to mix drinks but I wasn't ill so it was all good) Tim helped me avoid a few drinks (I was on a losing streak! along with Mark aka Foetus- only learnt his real name on my last day with them!) Near the end of the evening a japanese girl arrived at the hostel and joined the party!! Headed out for food in the early hours of the morning- tried Dim Sum but it was DISGUSTING- so I went to 7-eleven(!) and got the traditional oreos and ritz crackers to help soak up the alcohol...
The next day the 6 of us ended up going to KFC for breakfast- however I just stuck to oreos! The guys booked tickets up to Langkawi and invited me and the japanese girl (Hisami) up with them so we decided to join them the next day- despite the fact it was completely the wrong direction for me as I was planning on heading south towards singapore and Langkawi is in the far north of Malaysia... but hey I didn't really have any plans so it didn't matter! Then we all went round KL for an explore- journeyed to the petronas towers, chinatown and times square. We then left the guys to go and get the bus and Me and Hisami went shopping, saw part of a gig (until we got fed up of the terrible singing!) had free cornettos (tho they melted SO fast) and went to subway- oh yes.
The journey to Langkawi was LONG- and there was also a ferry journey (thankfully not too bad) we met a pakistani family and I played noughts and crosses with their daughter (at least it passed the time!) and they gave us some random cake stuff to try- was actually quite good! we made a quick exit when they seemed to want us to share a hotel room with their kids... we met the guys at the hotel and played cards and drank (starting to see a pattern here?!?)
We hired a car the next day and drove to Cenang beach- everyone got abit burnt :S the sea was pretty hot so it wasn't the best way to cool down (but our room had air con!!) We stayed in an awesome shack right on the beach- literally you stepped out of the door and you were on the beach- amazing! It did get rather sandy tho during the 4 days or so we were there... thankfully when drunk Roy turned into a good cleaner... played cards and drank again- the great thing about Langkawi was duty-free alcohol!! one of the main reasons the guys headed up there!
Me, Tim and Hisami went on a drive around the island to the black sand beach (where we found a dead pufferfish- eww!) a reserve which was SO beautiful and another beach- which I've forgotten the name of. That evening me and Tim lay on the beach listening to music (found out about some good aussie bands!) and it was so amazing as you could see so many stars and it was lush and peaceful
The days in Langkawi involved alot of lazing around- had 3 priorities- eat, drink and sleep- it was awesome just to chill out.
The last night was abit insane!- we piled into the car and went on a date with the coronel (KFC) We sped along in the car music blaring, singing rather tunelessly and yelling random things, then did some more stargazing, beach wandering, i discovered i can still do forward rolls!, wandered down the road singing carols (bit early really) and nursery rhymes, and ate cake...mmmm
It was sad to leave the guys behind but Hisami had a flight from KL the next day and I wanted to go to the cameroon highlands- Tim and Foetus came with us to the ferry
Was weird without them being around and the random phrases I had got so used to such as "you're smashed" borat style "how much??" "1 ringit" "scum!" "taxi" "jalan rambia" the infamous tune "tonight I want to get boongy with you" etc- learnt lots of Oz slang of them! not that it probably makes sense to most of you...
